In addition, it is one of the nine specialized high schools in the city.
Overview
Brooklyn Tech students must select a primary course of study as a precursor to their college education. Academic progression at Brooklyn Tech works on a point system, where students with the highest GPAs can choose their first choice of majors, a set of elective courses offered during their last two years. Upon graduation, students can expect to be well-versed in the fundamental principles of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and have a basic understanding of the global environment, current events, and liberal art disciplines.
Community and Culture
Students are encouraged to dedicate their time and effort to the school through club participation, team involvement, or participation in school-related events. Brooklyn Tech believes in unlocking students’ entire academic potential. It does so by implementing a service system where students must volunteer a minimum of hours at an external organization or establishment. The program aims to foster social skills, a sense of responsibility, and the development of individual student’s strengths.
College and Preparation
Teachers are incredibly generous with their time, offering student extensions and coordinating internship opportunities outside class.
